Telemedicine: Innovations for higher quality of life

Vitaphone is involved with national and international partners to conduct research and development into intelligent telemonitoring systems. The goal is to be able to continue to provide optimal care to the chronically ill and people in need of care in the future.

The development of telemonitoring systems and telemedical-supported therapy programs is an important contribution to meeting the challenges of demographic change: The relative share of people in older age will increase dramatically in our "greying society", and is associated with an increase in the chronically ill, people in need of care and medical attention, and a simultaneous shortage of specialist staff.

Projects being promoted to develop innovative telemedical services

Together with national and international research groups and additional cooperation partners, Vitaphone is active in various projects aimed at successfully meeting the future challenges with innovative products and services for greater quality of life. The commitment ranges from telemedical-supported protection systems against sudden cardiac arrest (MµGUARD) and compliance-increasing care systems for chronic airway diseases (AMICA) to motivating training programs for primary prevention in seniors (Motivotion 60+) and assistance in home care and treatment (JUTTA, easyCare) and monitoring of diabetes type 2 patients in rural areas (EMOTIONAAL).

Cost-effective and individual care

The individual care of chronically ill people can be provided more cost-effectively through the use of integrated care models: in-depth telemonitoring helps to detect critical health changes rapidly and provides objective basic data for more precise face-to-face consultations. At the same time, health consciousness and therapy adherence can be markedly increased. A strategic development goal is to give those involved mobility via intelligent sensors, software and integrated mobile solutions, and provide needs-based services any time and anywhere.
